A Letter to Visa and Mastercard

On December 9th, 2020, Arrêter ExploitationHub along with 40 other organizations and professionals from across Canada dedicated to fighting sexual exploitation and abuse, sent a letter to both Mastercard and VISA asking them to enforce their own guidelines and rules and cease processing payments for the Montreal based pornographic company Pornhub, and that of its parent company MindGeek.

The offensive content available on the Pornhub site is outlined in the letter signed by 20 Canadian Senators and MPs from four different political parties to the Honourable David Lametti, PC, MP Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada which states:

In addition to publishing videos of child abuse, sexual assault, and sex trafficking, Pornhub also publishes videos that portray: misogynistic and gender-based violence, explicit racism and hate speech, minors, incest and voyeurism and intimate images.”

The letter asked Mastercard and VISA to end their relationship with MindGeek and Pornhub- a move that was taken by PayPal in November 2019.

On December 10th, 2020, Following pressure from multiple sources and an internal investigation Mastercard cut ties with Pornhub.
